About

Dr. Brown completed her doctoral degree from Mercer University in Educational Leadership Higher Education. Her doctoral work is in the development of hospital patient safety culture and resident perceptions of patient safety throughout residency training. Dr. Brown received her Bachelor of Science in Education at the University of Missouri and a Master of Education at the University of Kansas.

Early in her career, Dr. Brown worked as a Special Education teacher and behavior specialist for K-12 students, then transitioned out of education to be a virtual assistant and business owner. She provided transcription and secretarial services in business, higher education and healthcare. Dr. Brown worked as an administrative assistance at the University of Kansas Department of Surgery before being recruited to participate in the development of a new general surgery residency program in South Texas. She served as the Program Coordinator and Director of Surgical Education. Dr. Brown found Medical Education to be the perfect combination of her experience in education and administration. After achieving full accreditation for the residency program in South Texas, Donna accepted a position as director of Graduate Medical Education at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC.)

As the first new position hired for the Office of GME at the Medical Center, Donna worked to set up the new department and build a structure for the first residency programs at NGMC.  Donna has since achieved C-TAGME designation (Certified-Training of Administrators in Graduate Medical Education) and continues to provide administrative leadership to growing the residency programs at NGMC.
