She started her career in education as a Special Education teacher for students in grades K-12. Later, Donna started her own business from home and worked as a virtual assistant and transcriptionist for business, education and healthcare.
Wishing to expand her experience in healthcare, Donna accepted a position in the Department of Surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC), where she worked as an administrative assistant. Not long into her tenure at KUMC, she was recruited to move to South Texas to assist in starting a new General Surgery Residency Program and development of a new University of Texas School of Medicine. Ms. Brown and her family moved to McAllen, TX, and she served as the General Surgery Residency program coordinator and director of Surgical Education. After achieving full accreditation for the residency program in South Texas, Donna accepted a position as director of Graduate Medical Education at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC.)
As the first new position hired for the Office of GME at the Medical Center, Donna worked to set up the new department and build a structure for the first residency programs at NGMC. Donna has since achieved C-TAGME designation (Certified-Training of Administrators in Graduate Medical Education) and continues to provide administrative support to growing the residency programs at NGMC.
