About

Dr. Jameela Harper was born and raised in Milledgeville, Georgia. Her mother was a nurse and inspired Dr. Harper to pursue medicine as a career. As a child, Dr. Harper spent her summers visiting family and attending various summer camps. Dr. Harper graduated magma cum laude with her bachelors degree in Biology from Boston University and received her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. She currently works as an OB/GYN for Northeast Georgia Physicians Group where she works in an office as well as serves in several administrative committees. Dr. Harper resides in Flowery Branch with her husband, kids, and dog. Her hobbies include reading, exercising on her Peloton, and traveling.

As a child, Dr. Harper’s favorite subjects were math and science, so naturally she wanted to pursue a career in the field of science.  Dr. Harper loved seeing her mother tend to others who were sick and make a difference in their lives as a nurse. Her mother is who encouraged her to become a doctor. Dr. Harper chose obstetrics and gynecology after seeing a need to help women from teen years to menopause. By choosing obstetrics and gynecology, she could work to treat women for various medical issues but more importantly empower them in knowledge of the bodies. As Dr. Harper matriculated through school and her career, she acknowledges the need to continue to educate and try to inspire others they can become a doctor or work in any field they aspire to.

In her daily practice, Dr. Harper is motivated to provide personal care to patients, educating patients and staff, and trying to be an inspiration to everyone she encounters. She wants her patients to see her as a kindred person whom they are comfortable disclosing any concerns and working together to come up with a care plan that benefits them. Dr. Harper loves learning new information from all avenues such as current literature as well as from her patients. Her overall goal is to continue to grow into a better physician and inspire others who see unconquerable barriers to be conquerable.

Dr. Harper is board-certified in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She currently serves as vice chief for NGHS Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as a member of several committees including Georgia OB/GYN Society and America Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecology.
