Lisa, a Mississippi native, Southern California transplant and Air Force veteran, comes to the team with over 15 years of higher education experience.
As program coordinator, Lisa’s role is multifaceted and complex. She supports Dr. Monica Newton, Northeast Georgia Medical Center’s (NGMC) Family Medicine Program Director with the day-to-day operations of the program. She leads, coordinates, manages and supports the structured activities of NGMC’s family medicine resident physicians to help them remain compliant and stay on track for their certifications and state medical license. Her goal is to provide as much support as needed, so the resident physicians can pass their boards. It’s a never-ending cycle of responsibilities.
Lisa has been successful in this role because she is great at problem-solving, is a critical thinker, excels at multitasking and is able to organize chaos in a fast-paced environment.
“The most important and fulfilling part of my job is being a coach, guidance counselor, big sister, mentor, cheerleader, emotional support provider and friend to my residents,” said Lisa. “There is a trust, a bond and deeply rooted loyalty that is formed between the coordinator and the residents… it’s unexplainable….we truly become family!”
“You’re going to go through tough times – that’s life. But I say, ‘Nothing happens to you, it happens for you.’ See the positive in negative events.”
