We are thrilled to introduce Lisa Carter, MPA, as Northeast Georgia Medical Center’s (NGMC) Family Medicine residency program coordinator. Lisa has been furiously working behind the scenes to help NGMC earn initial accreditation from the ACGME for the Family Medicine residency program.
Lisa has extensive experience working with Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs. Prior to joining NGMC, she was a residency program coordinator for the University of California, Riverside (UCR). Prior to her time at UCR, she served as a college admissions advisor, manager and director for various universities. In these roles, she helped students determine their academic direction for their bachelor’s and master’s programs. Lisa is also a U.S. Air Force veteran.
“Lisa is a great asset to NGMC’s Family Medicine residency program,” said Dr. Monica Newton, Family Medicine Residency Program director. “She is experienced, friendly and innovative. Together, we make a great team.”
Lisa chose to accept the role of program coordinator for the newly accredited NGMC Family Medicine residency program because she believes in the vision of Northeast Georgia Health System and the GME program. She is passionate about training compassionate, competent and virtuous physicians who put the needs of their patients first. She is also excited to play an integral role in building the foundation of a new GME program and to make a positive impact on developing residents into great physicians.
“There are many things that I like about my role as the Family Medicine residency program coordinator,” said Lisa. “The role is very challenging, fast-paced and constantly evolving. In order to be successful, I must constantly think outside of the box. The best part of my job is filling the roles of guidance counselor, compliance guru, big sister, voice of reason and confidant for the residents. At the end of the day, I know I am truly making a difference.”
Outside of work, Lisa is very active! She loves traveling, going to the ballet, concerts, movies, plays, festivals, comedy shows and musicals. She loves all types of music including R&B, Hip Hop, Jazz, Rock, Reggae, Cuban, Pop, Gospel and a little country. Cooking is her stress reliever – she is known as an entertainer and regularly pulls together large dinner parties at the last minute.
