OPPORTUNITIES AND SUPPORT FOR PUBLISHING AT NORTHEAST GEORGIA MEDICAL CENTER

July 17, 2020

Congratulations to Dr. Hasan Choudhury and Dr. Riyadh Al-Rubaye who are now published! Dr. Al-Rubaye received notice that their case report of Rhabdomyolysis in a COVID-19 patient was accepted in the Journal of Case Reports. The official publication will come out in August 2020.

“I am very proud and impressed with this scholarly activity,” says Dr. James Kruer, Internal Medicine Residency Program Director. “At the recent PEC meeting on June 8, 2020 we recognized an opportunity to increase the number of published PubMed ID articles as a program. This really makes our program look outstanding in the eyes of the ACGME. Thank you Hasan and Riyadh for making us look awesome!”

Dr. Kruer says that he hopes their success is inspirational and shows everyone that it really isn’t hard to get published, it just takes diligence and persistence. When asked for advice for residents when it comes to being published, Dr. Kruer added…

“For all those working on case report abstracts/posters, I would encourage you to ask Dr. Al-Rubaye and Dr. Choudhury how they did it and spend just a little extra time to write up the abstract as a case report for submission to this or other journals. Making your work count twice as two forms of scholarly work is a great way to build a CV and get noticed at future fellowship and job interviews.”
