About

Dr. Mathew received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Rice University. She attended Baylor College of Medicine before completing her residency in emergency medicine at the University of Chicago. She did a research fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine, receiving her Master of Public Health with a concentration in Behavioral Science and Health Education. After fellowship, she was faculty at Emory University for three years before working at Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta. She joined Northeast Georgia Medical Center in 2020 and is one of the associate program directors for the Emergency Medicine residency program.

Dr. Mathew believes it is a privilege to provide emergency care to her community and is excited to teach residents how to practice compassionate and quality medicine. She is passionate about workforce diversity, mentoring early-career physicians, and promoting physician wellness and wellbeing. Her academic interests include socioeconomic determinants of health, optimization of teaching and learning methods, and departmental efficiency. In her free time, Dr. Mathew enjoys discovering new restaurants, traveling locally and abroad, and spending time with her husband and three young daughters.
