NGMC GME Accreditation
Northeast Georgia Medical Center has earned ACGME accreditation in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Primary Care Track, Psychiatry and Transitional Year. NGMC is excited to offer several Fellowship programs as well.
By 2024, all residency programs could host more than 200 total resident physicians – which would make the GME program one of the largest in the state of Georgia.

Family Medicine Residency
The Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Family Medicine Residency program is a three-year training program offering residents the full scope of training and clinical experience necessary to comprehensively manage a population of patients throughout the lifespan.
General Surgery Residency
The Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) General Surgery Residency Program is a five-year training program offering residents teaching and clinical experience to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to evaluate, diagnose, and manage surgical patients.
Internal Medicine Residency
The Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Internal Medicine residency is a three-year training program offering residents the full scope of training and clinical experience necessary to become outstanding internists. With a focus on comprehensive training in internal medicine, our program offers a robust curriculum that encompasses a diverse range of clinical experiences.
Primary Care Track Residency
Welcome to the Primary Care Track Residency at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC). Our three-year program is aimed to train exceptional general internists who want to excel in careers in primary care.
Psychiatry Residency
Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) is proud to offer a newly ACGME-accredited community-based, community-focused Psychiatry Residency program. Our program is the result of collaboration between Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Avita Community Partners, Peachford Hospital, Mt. Sinai Wellness Center and various Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) integrated care clinics in various counties.
Transitional Year
The goal of the Transitional Year Residency program at NGMC is to help create a solid foundation during the intern year that will train physicians who will become deeply compassionate, high quality, highly reliable, cost conscious physicians who practice with a deep sense that they impact life at its most sacred moments.
