About

Dereck DeLeon, MD is the Designated Institutional Official (DIO) for Graduate Medical Education (GME). In this role, Dr. DeLeon oversees, develops and strengthens the GME enterprise.

Dr. DeLeon brings more than 20 years of medical education leadership experience. Most recently, he served as Chief Academic Officer for Nuvance Health, a Yale-affiliated residency and fellowship program serving communities in Connecticut and New York. Prior to that, he held the same role at Cone Health in Greensboro, North Carolina, and he also created the first residency program at Kaiser Permanente San Diego.

Dr. DeLeon earned bachelor’s degrees in molecular biology and economics from the University of Washington. He received his medical degree from Universidad del Caribe de Cayey in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, and completed his Family Medicine residency at Riverside University Health System–Medical Center/Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Riverside, California.
