About

Jake Slaton serves as the Statistician for NGHS Graduate Medical Education, where he oversees, conducts, and disseminates statistical designs and analyses for all GME projects. Additionally, Jake aids in developing curricula around statistics and causal inference for resident and fellow education. His statistical expertise lies within study designs using real-world data, where he can leverage causal and statistical modeling techniques to address common challenges in observational research. Jake is currently working on his PhD thesis, “Bayesian Methods for Observational Healthcare Research: Leveraging Uncertainty and Existing Knowledge”, that is aimed at developing statistical methods for improving upon current analysis practices in healthcare research. Prior to his work at NGHS, Jake was a member of the Emory University Sport Performance And Research Center where he aided in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction research. Using his experiences in research and expertise in biostatistics, Jake supports physicians from study design to dissemination, with an objective to increase physician comfort in interpretating and disseminating statistics.

Research Interests: Observational causal inference, directed acyclic graphs, Bayesian modeling, uncertainty quantification, distributional modelling, simulation-based analyses
