As Chief Resident of the General Surgery Red Rotation (2), the resident will be ultimately be responsible for all the clinical decision-making on the Red Surgery Service, with attending supervision. The Chief Resident will determine appropriate evaluation strategies and follow-up plans general surgery. The Chief Residents will perform operative procedures which may include: hepatobiliary reconstructions, pancreatic procedures, complex re-operative general surgery, complex recurrent hernia surgery which may include abdominal wall reconstruction and major operations for life threatening general emergencies; to include Trauma when covering call, with attending supervision per the Resident Supervision Policy. Residents will participate in at least two outpatient clinics per week.
