Medical Interests

The optimization of the interrelationship among hemodynamics, electrical conductance, and structural compartments provides a continuous challenge that is rewarding for the providers privileged to serve in cardiovascular medicine. Yet, what I love most is its merge of scientific foundation with a philanthropic heart, striving to help overcome limitations to physical activity and to enhance life. My goal as a physician is to improve the health of my patients through my endless service to the community and my constant strive to discover paramount medical management by participating in innovative research.

I feel truly blessed to return home to continue serving my fellow Georgians through this wonderful Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship program at Georgia Heart Institute and Northeast Georgia Medical Center. The superior blend of core faculty who completed training in various top programs in the nation and the instilled belief of the excellent training and educational opportunity truly excites me. In addition to the exceptional academics, Gainesville offers a unique setting perfect for work-life balance. With beautiful Lake Lanier as well as proximity to Atlanta for weekenders who enjoy events and entertainment like me, my family and I are really thrilled to be back in northeast Georgia. We hope to remain as essential members who can contribute to this lovely community.

About

I was born in Seoul, South Korea and spent most of my life in Georgia. I completed elementary to high school in Duluth, GA, went to Georgia Tech for undergrad, and graduated from Mercer University School of Medicine (MUSM).

During my time at MUSM, I gained interest in cardiology, leading me to pursue residency in internal medicine. I completed my residency training at University of Tennessee College of Medicine at Chattanooga, and during my training, I was thrilled to learn that a cardiovascular disease fellowship program was starting near home.

I will forever be thankful to NGHS for providing me with the opportunity to pursue my passion in providing back to my community and fellow Georgians. Throughout my training, I am certain I will learn from the best to develop a strong foundation in cardiovascular medicine. Upon completion of training, I plan to pursue advanced fellowship to become an interventional cardiologist. I am truly excited of my journey ahead!

Additional to career goals, I enjoy spending time with my beloved wife and our three wonderful cats. My wife and I enjoy hiking, traveling, and experiencing cultural cuisines. We cannot wait to delve into the diverse experience and events in the local community and the overall greater Atlanta region!
