1. What inspired you to pursue psychiatry and what are your clinical interests within psychiatry?
What inspired me to pursue psychiatry was an appreciation for clinical interviewing and history taking. While important to every field, I grew a strong appreciation for the level of insight and detail learned about patients and their backgrounds when conducting psychiatric interviews. My clinical interests are currently pursuing adult outpatient psychiatry, and to be in a teaching setting with the goal of working with and mentoring future residents and medical students.
2. What do you enjoy most about being part of this residency program?
What I enjoy most about being part of NGMC Psychiatry are our attendings, faculty, opportunities, and resident support, particularly from our senior and chief residents. I feel supported by our program leadership and can say that our voice is listened to with respect to feedback and program initiatives. In terms of opportunities, our program is building on and developing more frequently. Most recently I was able to be a part of our new forensics experience rotation with the Gainesville Police Department. This was eye-opening and a community experience that I really valued as someone who intends to continue practicing in the Northeast Georgia area long-term.
3. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time, I like spending time with my wife, toddler, and cat Minnie. I also like to attend the resident socials offered by our program and GME. Other things I like to do areto listen to music, watch TV and movies, as well as play the occasional video game on my Steam Deck.
