About
I’m from Knoxville, TN, where I also attended the University of Tennessee for my undergraduate studies (Go Vols!). I have a passion for diversity, equity, inclusion, and community outreach. I enjoy spending time with my friends and traveling in my free time, and I’m always up for trying all the coffee shops in town.
If you have a spouse or significant other, tell us their name and a little about them.
I am married. My husband’s name is Ali Ottman. We recently got married over Thanksgiving weekend in 2021. Ali is originally from Chicago, and he works as a data analyst in the insurance technology sector. He is obsessed with basketball and has a passion for exercise, nutrition, and wellness.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love being outdoors, hiking, gyming, discovering new coffee shops, traveling, and watching anything related to Star Wars.
Tell us an interesting fact about you.
I was named after my maternal grandmother, who was born and lived all her life in North Sudan.
What’s a unique skill you have that you don’t think anyone else in the residency will have?
Although it may be difficult to pinpoint a skill that no one else in the residency will have, I believe that my identity as a visibly Muslim Black woman will add a unique perspective to my residency class.
