During the advanced airway course, physician residents intubate a patient using a McGrath and a bougie. Diversity & inclusion simulations allow physician residents to practice communication skills and cultural competency awareness. In-situ simulations allow learners to practice team collaboration to maintain patient safety and improve patient outcomes. Nursing staff replicate clinical practices, improving their critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills in a safe learning environment. The advanced airway course allows physician residents to practice video laryngoscopy skills with a McGrath and a glidescope. The NGHS Center for Simulation and Innovation partnered with the NGHS ECMO Coordinator and Educator to facilitate the first ECMO training in the GME simulation lab. General Surgery physician residents demonstrate their suturing techniques in a General Surgery escape box challenge. Physician residents are certified in advanced cardiac life support training, which includes infant basic life support.
