Mission Statement
The mission of Northeast Georgia Medial Center Infectious Disease Fellowship Program is to train
subspecialists, in a community-based training program. who will be clinically and culturally competent to address the infectious disease health care needs to the patients and communities they serve. This aligns the infectious disease fellowship with the larger mission of Northeast Georgia Medical Center to “improve the health of the community in all we do.”
Program Aims
The fellowship program’s goals are to assure the provision of safe and effective care to the individual
patient, to assure that each fellow develops the skills, knowledge and attitudes required to enter the unsupervised practice of infectious disease and establish a foundation for continued professional growth. The Northeast Georgia Infectious Disease fellowship program aims to:
- graduate fellows capable to provide consultative ID services in outpatient and inpatient settings,
- develop specialists with experience in antibiotic stewardship,
- provide fellows with expertise training in clinical practice of HIV medicine,
- develop specialists able to consult for a hospital infection prevention program,
- prepare fellows for potential academic careers through teaching experiences.
Furthermore, our program’s training will incorporate the NGHS Core Values.
Respectful Compassion: Fellows acknowledge and embrace their unique and influential role in patient care, impacting the most sacred moments in life.
Passion for Excellence: As both learners and leaders, fellows are in pursuit of continuous improvement, always striving to be better tomorrow than today.
Deep Interdependence: Fellows understand their individual, and significant, roles within the total care team, with a full appreciation that they cannon do their job without the support of others.
Responsible Stewardship: fellows recognize their accountability in the value of care delivered to a patient, with a focus on both quality and cost. Resource decisions fellows make today influence the organization’s ability to invest in tomorrow’s future.
