Meet NGMC’s new Director of Resident Wellness, Holly Stewart, BSW, MSOL

August 21, 2018

We are excited to introduce Holly Stewart, BSW, MSOL as Northeast Georgia Medical Center’s (NGMC) new director of resident wellness. As we prepare to welcome our first residents in internal medicine and general surgery in July 2019, she will be developing a wellness program that will provide resources for all our resident physicians to remain mentally, socially, spiritually and financially well.

Once the residents arrive, Holly will work directly with the resident physicians to help them:

  • Integrate into Gainesville and the surrounding communities
  • Identify and develop resources that will enable them to thrive during their medical education
  • Avoid burnout

Holly is excited to work with the inaugural class of NGMC residents who will be setting the tone for the future of the program. She has a social work and education background with a Bachelor of Social Work from Appalachian State University and a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from Brenau University. She is excited about a career where she is able to combine elements of both professions.

Holly is married to Kris Stewart, the head basketball coach at Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia. They have been married for 13 years ad have two daughters, Hannah (11) and Taylor (7). In her free time, Holly enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, cooking, doing CrossFit and trying new restaurants in the Atlanta area.

“Gainesville is very similar to my hometown of Morganton, North Carolina, both in geography and atmosphere, so it felt like a good fit when we moved here in 2011,” Holly said. “With Lake Lanier and the Blue Ridge mountains nearby, we are surrounded by so much natural beauty, yet we can travel an hour south and be in the middle of Atlanta. Gainesville itself is developed enough to have a city feel while still having the perks of small-town living. It’s really the best of both worlds!”

We are thrilled to have Holly as a part of NGMC’s Graduate Medical Education leadership team. If you would like to reach out to, Holly’s office is located in the GME administrative suite (Suite 710), her email is holly.stewart@nghs.com and her number is 770-219-8740
