CoRE Curriculum

In addition to a block schedule, this program offers the Cornerstones of Resident Education (CoRE) – a three-year longitudinal curriculum which engages residents across all programs.

  • 12 months Outpatient Psychiatry
    • NGPG Psychiatry clinics in Gainesville, Buford, Braselton and Dawsonville.
    • 2 days adult continuity clinic
    • .5 days child continuity clinic (residents interested in child psychiatry can opt for a full day)
    • .5 days didactics
    • 1 full day for psychotherapy cases and supervision
    • 1 day for residents to rotate through various specialized ambulatory experiences including TMS, women’s mental health, neurology, addictions and integrated family medicine/collaborative care, partial hospital and intensive outpatient programs, and our county’s safety-net, Good News Clinic.

Note: The partnership with the University of Arizona is a supplement to the NGHS Tuition Reimbursement benefit that allows student tuition to be covered 100% after eligible employees have received $5,250 in tuition reimbursement in a calendar year (lifetime maximum of $21,000).

Requirements to be eligible: relevant degree program from an accredited school, director’s approval, 6 mo FT or PT employment, (pro-rated for PT, PRN not eligible), C or higher in classes, meets or better on last evaluation. Participants are able to go to UAGC or a variety of other schools, as long as they are accredited and the program is relevant to a career at NGHS.
